Study Tips
  • The CISSP exam has between 125 and 175 questions because it uses an adaptive format. Think of it like Netflix recommendations: the test shifts in real time based on how you’re doing.

  • You’ll have up to 4 hours. That’s plenty of time to sweat, second-guess, and then finally realize you actually knew more than you thought.

  • The exam covers eight domains of cybersecurity, from Security and Risk Management to Software Development Security. In other words, it’s a buffet of everything a security pro is supposed to know.

  • You’ll need a scaled score of 700 out of 1000. Translation: about 70%. Not impossible, but you’ll want to bring your A-game.

  • You’ll take it at a Pearson VUE testing center or via online proctoring. Either way, someone will be watching you more closely than airport security.

  • The exam fee is $749. Yes, it stings, but consider it an investment in your cybersecurity street cred.

  • Head over to the (ISC)² website, create an account, and register through Pearson VUE. It’s about as thrilling as setting up a new Wi-Fi router, but it’s necessary.

  • The exam is offered year-round, so you can pick a date that works for you. Just don’t schedule it the morning after your best friend’s wedding.

  • You’ll need five years of paid work experience in at least two of the eight domains. If you’re short, you can become an Associate of (ISC)² and upgrade later.

  • Yes, but there are waiting periods: 30 days after the first try, 90 days after the second, and 180 after the third. Basically, they won’t let you brute-force your way through.

  • Yes, (ISC)² offers other certifications like SSCP, CCSP, and CAP. CISSP is the big boss level, while the others are more specialized side quests.

  •  We’re sorry to see you go, and if you’ve already passed your exam, congratulations! 🎉
